The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a fatal case of swine flu in Brazil, marking the first human infection from the H1N1 virus in the country in 2023.

T he patient was a 42-year-old woman with existing health issues who lived near a pig farm. She developed symptoms including fever, headache, sore throat, and abdominal pain and was hospitalised with a severe respiratory infection.
